Next Step Initiative

Growing Together

For three Sundays a month, three semesters a year (fall, winter and spring) after our time of worship together we break out into small groups. We have created several ‘living room’ spaces where we gather for an hour on various topics. Each month we choose a different topic in which to engage and newcomers can jump in any class at any time. Focused connection and equipping is the result!

For over 8 years HCF has taken one Sunday a month for a ‘round table time’ in which we recreated a small group setting where people can connect, share and be in the Word together.  We have found that this values each person in our family as having a voice and an opportunity to contribute to encouraging and receiving from others.

In September 2024 HCF launched the Next Step Initiative, restructuring our Sunday gatherings to create small group equipping within the Sunday experience 3 weeks of the month.   This helps us to make more intimate connections during our Sunday gathering time which helps with encouragement, accountability, and support.

The church (ecclesia) is us, the people, and we believe that the mandate of Ephesians 4:11-16 is a key for the coming harvest – to raise up disciples who equip and disciple others.

In this series, kids will engage in puzzles and brain teaser activities as they discover the answers to some difficult questions. Memory Verse: “If any of you needs wisdom, you should ask God for it. • Keep Your Love On Relationship Tools

Keeping your love on is a hard thing to do. Sometimes it’s the hardest thing to do. But if you want to build healthy relationships with God and others, learning to keep your love on is non-negotiable. Adults and children, alike, thrive in healthy relationships in which it is safe to love and be loved, to know and be
known. Yet for many, relationships are anything but safe, loving or intimate. They are defined by anxiety,
manipulation, control and conflict. The reason is that most people have never been trained to be powerful
enough to keep their love on in the face of mistakes, pain and fear.

  • Reading Proverbs

This Next Steps group is a bible study answering the question, “What does it mean to read Proverbs
every day?” If you choose this group you will endeavor to read a chapter of Proverbs each day for
31 days, encapsulating the whole month, and seek to support others in their reading. Our group will
discuss Bible reading as a spiritual discipline and discuss other spiritual disciplines. We will seek to
understand what our Bibles say about godly wisdom. Our goal is to begin a life long habit of reading our bibles and specifically Proverbs each day.
