Next Step Initiative

Growing Together

For three Sundays a month, three semesters a year (fall, winter and spring) after our time of worship together we break out into small groups. We have created several ‘living room’ spaces where we gather for an hour on various topics. Each month we choose a different topic in which to engage and newcomers can jump in any class at any time. Focused connection and equipping is the result!

For over 8 years HCF has taken one Sunday a month for a ‘round table time’ in which we recreated a small group setting where people can connect, share and be in the Word together.  We have found that this values each person in our family as having a voice and an opportunity to contribute to encouraging and receiving from others.

In September 2024 HCF launched the Next Step Initiative, restructuring our Sunday gatherings to create small group equipping within the Sunday experience 3 weeks of the month.   This helps us to make more intimate connections during our Sunday gathering time which helps with encouragement, accountability, and support.

The church (ecclesia) is us, the people, and we believe that the mandate of Ephesians 4:11-16 is a key for the coming harvest – to raise up disciples who equip and disciple others.

  • How to Share Your Faith

Imagine you’re on a plane and someone hands you a parachute. If I tell you it’ll make your flight comfier, you’ll likely ditch it when the flight gets bumpy, right? But if I tell you the plane’s going down and you’ll need that parachute to survive – you’ll hang onto it for dear life!  The real message people need to hear is this: we’ve all broken God’s rules (ever told a lie? stolen something? had lustful thoughts?), so we’re all in big trouble.  Here is the Good News (the Best News ever) Jesus stepped in to take the punishment we deserve.

Come on a journey that will increase your heart for the lost, equip you to share your faith in everyday circumstances and increase your fruitfulness.  Will you let God work through you to expand His Kingdom?

  • Hearing God’s Voice

Before He died and rose to heaven Jesus promised to send His Holy Spirit, the Helper, to dwell in us. He said the Spirit of Truth will guide us into all truth – He wants to communicate with us! Holy Spirit brings the equipping we all vitally need in these days of growing deception. From simple daily decisions to radical obedience in following Jesus, hearing His voice is crucial. Join us as we follow Jesus’ example of communing with the Father and learn from others like David and Paul. We trust the Teacher will sharpen our spiritual hearing as we activate this foundational practice.
