Next Step Initiative

Growing Together

For three Sundays a month, three semesters a year (fall, winter and spring) after our time of worship together we break out into small groups. We have created several ‘living room’ spaces where we gather for an hour on various topics. Each month we choose a different topic in which to engage and newcomers can jump in any class at any time. Focused connection and equipping is the result!

For over 8 years HCF has taken one Sunday a month for a ‘round table time’ in which we recreated a small group setting where people can connect, share and be in the Word together.  We have found that this values each person in our family as having a voice and an opportunity to contribute to encouraging and receiving from others.

In September 2024 HCF launched the Next Step Initiative, restructuring our Sunday gatherings to create small group equipping within the Sunday experience 3 weeks of the month.   This helps us to make more intimate connections during our Sunday gathering time which helps with encouragement, accountability, and support.

The church (ecclesia) is us, the people, and we believe that the mandate of Ephesians 4:11-16 is a key for the coming harvest – to raise up disciples who equip and disciple others.

  • Creative Communion

Our walks with God don’t ever have to be boring! We can engage in so much more to connect
with the Lord other than just ‘doing a daily reading.’ Over three weeks we will explore examples from the Bible of how God calls us to commune with Him in creative ways and explore new possibilities for our
own intimate communion with Jesus. We read in Scripture how the Lord dramatically met people in everyday life and He is calling us to ‘come away’ and meet with Him as well.
A Bible and journal will be helpful for this class.
